Nature’s Marvelous Recyclers

When I was running this morning, I saw over thirty turkey vultures on the road ahead of me. They scattered as I approached, and I noticed two dead deer. The vultures were taking care of nature, which is something man does not do.

I am not sure what killed the deer. Hunters usually take all parts of the deer except the legs. I hope that the deer were not killed by someone irresponsible. Possibly the deer were killed by a car. Seeing two deer so close together, I also wondered if disease had taken their lives.

I continued the run and noticed all the trash that my neighbors had left behind: cola cans, beer cans, plastic cola bottles, plastic water bottles and, yes, a dirty diaper. I realized then that I often play the role of the turkey vulture. I clean up trash along the roads regularly.
