This week, I started receiving green tips from the Sierra Club, which I have linked to this blog. The green tip today was on having too much stuff, using coffee cups as an example. We have lots more than 14 coffee cups in assorted patterns. We have more than 14 coffee cups per person in our household. The photo below doesn’t even show all the cups we own. We have fine china cups and another cabinet full of small coffee cups (at least 8-12 more). I have a cup full of rooibos tea as I sit by the computer. I have cups in the dishwasher. My husband is drinking coffee from a cup in another room.
I thought about giving those small cups to Goodwill. Maybe I should go ahead and do that.
A few years ago, we determined that we had too much stuff and have gotten rid of some of our stuff. But we still have a lot of stuff. When my mother died, we got more stuff like the Fiesta pattern cups and an extra TV that sat disconnected in the floor for about a year. And we need to buy more stuff like an HDTV, which will probably cause us to get more stuff like a digital cable box and accessories.
My stuff is organized litter.
